Welcome to SCI-Com, LLC – Where Science Meets Storytelling

In March 2020, the world was thrust into chaos by a silent, invisible enemy: COVID-19.

At first, it seemed like a distant crisis—something happening far away in China. But it

quickly became clear that no corner of the world would be spared. The virus spread

rapidly, upending lives, overwhelming healthcare systems, and changing our everyday

routines in ways we couldn’t have imagined. For years, we lived in uncertainty,

quarantined in our homes, glued to our screens, and mourning loved ones lost to a

global tragedy. And throughout it all, science was at the center.

Yet, while science dominated the headlines and the need for trustworthy information

became critical, one thing stood out: the faces delivering that information rarely reflected

the diversity of our nation. Black, Native American, and other underrepresented

communities were noticeably absent from the frontlines of public science

communication.

This gap is part of a broader issue. According to data from the National Center for

Science and Engineering Statistics, the STEM workforce is predominantly White (64%),

followed by Hispanic (15%), Asian (10%), Black (9%), and less than 1% identifying as

American Indian or Alaska Native. That lack of representation doesn’t just affect

careers—it affects who gets to tell the story of science.

That realization led to the founding of SCI-Com.

With more than four decades of experience as a television journalist, I’ve had the

privilege of telling powerful stories—many of them rooted in science. Along the way, I’ve

met countless scientists and science-minded professionals who are making incredible

contributions, often against great odds. These are stories of excellence, resilience,

discovery, innovation, and impact.

SCI-Com was created to give those stories the platform they deserve.

We work with scientists and professionals from all backgrounds to help them

communicate effectively in today’s fast-paced, media-driven world. Through

personalized media training and strategic guidance, we help clients confidently navigate

interviews, public appearances, and press opportunities. Our clients have appeared on

major networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, as well as streaming platforms and

channels including HULU, National Geographic, and The History Channel.

In a time when science is being questioned, discredited, and even politicized, it’s more

important than ever to amplify the voices of those who not only understand the

science—but also connect it to human experience. We need strong, diverse, confident

voices leading the way.

At SCI-Com, we’re committed to helping shape those voices and preserve the legacy of

those doing critical work across STEM fields.

Because at the end of the day, the science comes first.

We’re excited to be a part of your journey—whether you’re just starting out or looking to

elevate your voice. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s tell your story.
